Solenoid Blues

So far I have tried 6 different wirings for my Arduino -> Mini Master -> Power Driver 16 boards and none have worked.

S1

This is my preferred wiring!  This configuration continuously fires the coil every second (not in sync/controlled by code). Disconnecting the serial cable between the Mini and the PD16 stops the firing.

S2

Continuously fires the coil every second (not in sync/controlled by code). Disconnecting the serial cable between the Mini and the PD16 does NOT stop the firing.

S3

Continuously fires the coil every second (not in sync/controlled by code). Disconnecting  the serial cable between the Mini and the PD16 DOES NOT stop the firing.

S4

Continuously fires the coil every second (not in sync/controlled by code). Disconnecting the serial cable between the Mini and the PD16 does NOT stop the firing.

S5

Continuously fires the coil every second (not in sync/controlled by code). Pulling the serial cable between the Mini and the PD16 stops the firing.

S6

Fires the coil sporadically.  Occasionally it fires once per code loop, sometimes fires multiple times rapdily, sometimes it doesn’t fire for dozens of loop.  Pulling the serial cable between the Mini and the PD16 stops the firing.  This one seems to be closest to firing based on the code although it is completely out of sync.
